Welcome!

Around Chesham by Lalage Smyth, former member of the Photography with Digital Imaging Group

Welcome to the website of Chess Valley u3a

Operating in and around Chesham in Buckinghamshire, we offer a wide range of activities for those in their ‘third age’, when they are no longer working full time and are able to pursue other interests.

Our members take part in activities ranging from Art to Wildlife, with books, dinghy sailing, French, history and a lot more in between.

Our monthly talk on Thursday 12th June features Rob Brewer with Being a TV/Film Extra. Rob is an ex-soldier and a retired police officer and he fell into the entertainment industry as an TV/film extra after a visit to his local library. He has been an extra for six years, on over 40 different features. His work has ranged from Hollywood blockbusters to low-budget films, to TV dramas, soaps and comedies and even a couple of adverts. Rob talks about some of the productions that he’s been in, and explains how he became involved in the industry. Note that this a change from our planned speaker, who is indisposed.

The June talk will be preceded by our 17th Annual General Meeting.

The venue for this meeting is the Broadway Baptist Church in Chesham Broadway, which is wheelchair-accessible and equipped with a hearing loop. The talk starts at 2pm.

If you are not currently a member of Chess Valley u3a and would like to sample a monthly talk and learn more about us, please come along and you will receive a warm welcome.

Best wishes

James
