u3a

is a dynamic, outward-looking organisation which has a positive and creative  approach to retirement. Activities, which usually take place in the day-time, are organised mainly in small groups that meet regularly.

Members share their knowledge and experience and develop their own capabilities by learning from each other. No
qualifications are required, and none are given.  All you need is interest and enthusiasm.

Between  them, the more than 1,000 u3as in the UK cover over 300 subjects in such diverse fields as art, foreign languages, music, history, sciences, literature,  poetry, theatre, wildlife, walking and photography.

Chess Valley u3a

was formed in 2008 with initial support from Chlltern District Council and the National Lottery. It now has over 600 members and more than 50 activity groups.

Each activity group meets once or twice a month, and programmes are decided by the group's members. General meetings, with guest speakers, are held on the second Thursday of each month at The Broadway Baptist Church, Broadway, Chesham.

A quarterly Newsletter is distributed to all members giving full details of each of the groups' activities as well as reviews of past events and other items of interest. This is usually mailed to all members but currently a shortened version is being sent via email.

The annual subscription entitles members to attend the activity groups of their choice (as long as there are vacancies), as well as monthly general meetings.
